What is so special about area 51?
Question Date: 2006-03-15
Answer 1:

This is definitely an interesting question. Area 51 gets a lot of attention from movies, Sci-Fi books, and the media. Because of all the attention it is hard sometimes to find the line between the facts and the fiction about this area.

There are rumors that there are aliens being stored and researched there (like the movie Men in Black) some talk about UFOs due to lights and strange flying objects seen above. But what I do know is this: Area 51 is located in Nevada and is somewhere around 60 square miles big. The property is owned by the U.S. government and is a high security military base where research is done probably on new flight/space technology.

If you are still interested I would recommend 'Unsolved History: Area 51' a show done by the Discovery channel.
