Answer 1:
Floam is made of special, tiny micro beads that stick to one another to form anything you want.
Floam is safe, non toxic, and can be used over and over again. Floam sticks to most anything for
decoration but can be easily removed if desired.
Floam is essentially clay + polystyrene (aka
styrofoam). A company called EdiZONE invented and developed an ultra-light fluid called FLOAM
(somewhat like shaving cream but durable), and
used it to devise an improved design for wheelchair cushions helping to relieve pressure
hot spots for users. Then, EdiZONE licensed its
wheelchair cushioning material, FLOAM, to a number
of other companies.
Nike acquired FLOAM for footwear, sports, and fitness applications. They call EdiZONE's unique cushioning material "NIKE FORM". A new child's molding compound which is ultra-light and bouncy was created and licensed by EdiZONE to Hasbro Toys. FLOAM has also been successfully implemented in knee pads for aircraft construction workers, carpet layers, and others applications. Click Here to return to the search form.
