Are there crystals inside of volcanoes?
Question Date: 1999-05-03
Answer 1:

Yes, there are crystals inside volcanoes. Crystals that grow in magma that is inside and underneath volcanoes get trapped in the volcanic rock that forms from that magma when it erupts, and you can see them. They are called phenocrysts. Also, there are cracks in volcanoes and these are excellent places for crystals to grow.
