Thanks for the question. Cotton candy is made
by melting sugar into very thin strands while
spinning it very fast to make it into a big mass.
And then dyes and flavors are added in to make it
different colors and have different tastes. The
flavorings that are added are mixtures of what we
call "aromatic chemicals" which are made from a
reaction.
Sugar, is known as "sucrose" which is a
"carbohydrate." It is made of 12 atoms of carbon,
22 atoms of hydrogen, and 11 atoms of oxygen. We
know that cotton candy has chemical properties
because it smells and tastes a certain way.
Here are some extra fun facts!: Cotton candy is
not really flammable, it crystallizes when you set
it on fire though, (goes through a chemical change
with heat) this is because of the sugar, also when
you heat cotton candy on a stove, it changes
colors.
