Answer 1:
Chemistry and biology courses are a good
place to start. You will also want math, physics,
and computer science. Excellent communication
is important too. It never hurts to be fluent in
other languages. Here is a great article that

A lot of people are interested in forensic
science because of all of the TV shows. This
means that there are a lot more interested people
than there are jobs. Also, real forensic work is
not a lot like what you see on TV. There may be
other careers that would interest you too. Think
about WHY you’re interested in forensic
science. Do you like using information to test
hypotheses? Science is a great career. Do
you want to apply science to help people?
Public health does a lot of that. Do you like
solving complex problems? Computer coding may
be a good choice. Is it really law enforcement
that you like? See if your city offers
ride-along opportunities where you actually get to
spend a shift with law enforcement officers. You
can also contact your city or state crime lab to
see if someone would be willing to do an
informational interview. Tell them that you are a
high school student who wants to explore careers
in forensic science. Maybe one of their
scientists would even be willing to visit you
classroom, Girl Scout troop, or other
organization. You can ask an adult about that kind
of opportunity.
