other through gravity. If they are
relatively small and separate by a large distance,
the effect of gravity becomes negligible. If
they are relatively small and put close to each
other (pressed against), gravity is negligible and
it is the electrostatic force that comes into
play. At short range, the repulsive
electrostatic forces are extremely strong. In
fact, it is the extreme strength of the
electrostatic force that allows you to overcome
the large gravity of our Earth, stand on the
ground and jump; otherwise one would just
sink. Dirt sticks to your shoes and can overcome
