If the Earth gained mass as it was going around the the sun - would the Earth have to speed up or slow down to stay in orbit?
Question Date: 2016-11-08
Answer 1:

If Earth gained mass, it would spin faster around the sun because increased mass creates greater gravitational attraction. The Earth is currently gaining mass, although by very small amounts, by dust and meteors from space making their way into the atmosphere.
