Colors do not absorb light. Light has color.
Things with color that is different from the
color of the light absorb the light. The color
that things have is caused by the levels of
energy in the chemical bonds that connect the
atoms inside them. If the light is of the same
energy as those bonds, the bonds can absorb the
light. We will see the thing as having the color
opposite to what it absorbs, because the light we
see is reflected light. The interior of our eyes
are black, meaning that they absorb all colors,
which is why our eyes are able to see all colors.
